CLI

earlyforge-cli — query the free Pulse API from your terminal.

earlyforge-cli is a command-line client for the Pulse API — the same free, authenticated daily snapshot documented on that page. It wraps the 4 Pulse endpoints only; it is not a CLI for EarlyForge's paid real-time Trends detection catalog, articles, briefs, or alerts.

Install

Not published yet — install from a clone of the repository:

git clone https://github.com/earlyforge/earlyforge.git
pip install -e earlyforge/tools/cli-earlyforge

A published pip install earlyforge-cli package is coming.

Configure

export EARLYFORGE_API_KEY=ef_live_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Get a key from Settings → API Keys in the console. Or pass --api-key on each command instead of setting the env var.

Commands

earlyforge pulse top [--date YYYY-MM-DD] [--locale fr]
earlyforge pulse region <REGION> [--date YYYY-MM-DD] [--locale fr]
earlyforge pulse category <CATEGORY> [--date YYYY-MM-DD] [--locale fr]
earlyforge pulse trend <TREND_ID>

Every command pretty-prints the JSON response and accepts --api-key and --base-url (default https://api.earlyforge.ai, useful for pointing at a local gateway in development).

Examples

earlyforge pulse top
earlyforge pulse top --locale fr --date 2026-11-01
earlyforge pulse region US
earlyforge pulse category politics
earlyforge pulse trend tr_a1b2c3

Error handling

A non-2xx response prints Error: ... (<detail>) to stderr and exits with status 1 — the same 401 (invalid key), 404 (unknown trend), and 502 (upstream unavailable) cases documented in the OpenAPI contract.

Rate limits

No monthly call quota on this surface — only the shared 60 requests/60 seconds burst limit applies, same as the anonymous Pulse page.

Going further

This CLI only covers the free Pulse snapshot — it's the entire public API, on every plan. EarlyForge's paid plans add real-time trend detection across the full catalog of countries and categories inside the app itself (console only, not via this CLI) — see the pricing page for that upgrade path.
